Approximately
90% of the people answering the Questionnaire
complain about control and consistency with
their driver. CONTACT, or the lack of good
contact is the main culprit for most
of these players. The longer the club, the more precision
needed... the more precision needed, the
more practice required. Once you get quality
contact ingrained into your swing, to the
extent that you don't have to think or worry
about it, then actually hitting a ball will
become much easier and a whole lot more
FUN!
THE DRILL
Stick a tee into the ground (or if you practice
on mats, the rubber tee makes a perfect
substitute). Address the tee as if there's
a ball on it and swing away… keep at it
until you can hit the tee every time without
touching the grass or mat. If you miss the
tee, or hit the grass/mat, just keep practicing
until you are absolutely confident that
you can't miss.
This
drill in intended to help you hit a ball
that is "on" a tee... of
course you must adjust the drill for "on
the turf" shots.
| Woody Sez... the LESS you worry about WHERE the ball is going to go, the MORE you
will find it in the short grass! |
